On the last leg of their three-game East Coast road trip to end the 2025 calendar year, the Golden State Warriors will meet the Charlotte Hornets on New Year's Eve. Prior to tipping off against the Hornets, Stephen Curry returned home to college, Davidson, just outside of Charlotte.

Curry, the former Davidson star, was honored at his old college Tuesday night and then helped the Golden State Warriors beat the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.

The Warriors (18-16) were coming off a nice bounce-back victory in Brooklyn, and ended 2025 with with more winning as they’re set to play 10 of their next 11 games at home. The Warriors have also scored at least 120 points in five consecutive games, their longest such streak since 2018.

Standing as the center of attention during halftime of Tuesday night’s Davidson men’s basketball game at John M. Belk Arena, Steph Curry soaked it all in as the university he once called home renamed part of the highway — Exit 30 off I-77 — after him.

It isn’t shocking that the Warriors spent over $60 million to keep their homegrown talent in San Francisco. The deal is the largest yearly value in the NBA, but as a result of federal, state, local and jock taxes, Curry is not the top earner in the league.

Much of the attention surrounding the Warriors’ Christmas Day matchup naturally centered around Klay Thompson facing his former team, but the game also featured the first matchup between Golden Star Steph Curry and Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg.
