To mark the 15th anniversary of Gretchen Bender’s untimely death, the innovative media artist is getting a long overdue retrospective. Bender died at age 53—at the height of her career—from cancer.

William Bender, born on June 9, 2001, is a Vermont native who will be competing in his first Olympics with the USA rowing team. Bender didn’t start rowing until he was 14 while at Hanover High School.
